Adam Jennings Announces Campaign for Minnesota State Auditor
Veteran, mayor, and small business owner brings finance expertise to statewide race
Tonka Bay, MN (9/29/2025) — Today, Adam Jennings, veteran, small business owner, and mayor of Tonka Bay, announced his candidacy for Minnesota State Auditor. With a background in finance and a lifelong commitment to service, Jennings is running to continue Minnesota’s tradition of integrity and accountability in the Auditor’s office.
“I’m not a politician who dabbled in finance, I’m a finance guy who found his way into politics,” Jennings said. “I oversaw billions of dollars in the private sector, led a small city with collaboration, and built a small business where every employee has retirement benefits and no one pays a dime for health care coverage. I believe those experiences have prepared me to make sure Minnesota’s $60 billion in public spending is overseen with honesty and transparency. The Auditor’s office should be steady, trustworthy, and even a little boring. Because when politics is boring, government is working the way it’s supposed to.”
Jennings’ candidacy has already drawn support from local leaders in Minnesota.
Ann Johnson Stewart, State Senator, praised Jennings’ record of service:
“Adam Jennings has always answered the call to serve—from the National Guard, to joining the city council, and his leadership as mayor of Tonka Bay. He understands that public service is about accountability and trust. Minnesotans can count on him to protect the integrity of the Auditor’s office and make sure local government works for everyone.”
Kevin Anderson, Hennepin County Commissioner, highlighted Jennings’ collaborative approach:
“As mayor of Tonka Bay, Adam has shown how local governments can work together to deliver critical services efficiently and effectively. He knows firsthand the challenges cities and counties face, and he’ll bring that collaborative mindset to the Auditor’s office to support local governments across the state.”
Jennings emphasized that his campaign will focus on accountability, service, and transparency. “At the end of the day, this office isn’t about me,” Jennings said. “It’s about making sure Minnesotans can trust that every dollar is accounted for and every decision is made with integrity. Because in Minnesota—just like in finance—everybody counts.
